Deal | Entry-level Apple MacBook Air 13 with M2 chip drops to lowest price in 120 days at Best Buy
The MacBook Air with the M2 chip is Apple’s premier entry-level MacBook. The laptop which usually goes at or above US$1000 is now on sale for only US$899 at Best Buy. According to pricing data collected by Honey, the US$899 rate is a 120-day low at Best Buy, as it is US$50 lower than the recent sales price of US$949. Additionally, the discounted price is US$200 less than the US$1,099 list price.
The base model of the 13-inch MacBook Air M2 that is on offer comes with an Apple M2 SoC featuring an 8-core CPU/GPU, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display features a 2560x1664 resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Finally, the laptop packs an FHD webcam and Wi-Fi 6.
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Air with Apple M2 is an outstanding machine with very few shortcomings. As a result, the laptop got a “very good” rating from us courtesy of an excellent 92.3% review score.
For starters, the M2 MacBook Air is extremely well-built with a chassis that is both sturdy and thin. We also noted that the pre-calibrated 13.6-inch screen covers 100% of the sRGB, 98.4% of the DCI-P3, and 87% of the AdobeRGB color gamut. Coupled with maximum and average brightness measurements of 526 and 486 nits respectively, the MacBook Air M2’s display is plenty enough for color-sensitive work and media consumption in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The M2 MacBook Air also didn’t disappoint when it comes to performance. The base M2 chip performed 17% and 6% better than the M1 chip featured inside the entry-level 2020 MacBook Air in the Cinebench R23 Multi-Core and Single-Core benchmarks respectively.
Similarly, the 8-core iGPU on the MacBook Air also gets a healthy performance bump over the M1 with our tests showing a 15% and 25% improvement over the 8-core and 7-core M1 GPU respectively.
Finally, the 2022 MacBook Air is an endurance champ, as it lasted more than 15 hours in our WiFi Websurfing test at 150 nits of brightness.
