Deal | Acer Nitro 5 budget gaming laptop with Intel i5-12500H and Nvidia RTX 4050 dGPU discounted to US$899.99
B&H currently has one of the most affordable gaming laptops featuring an Nvidia RTX 4050 dGPU. In order to keep costs as low as possible, the Acer Nitro 5 combines the entry level Ada solution with an Intel i5-12500H CPU, but otherwise includes 16 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. This configuration was launched earlier this year at US$999.99, but is now available with a US$100 discount.
The i5-12500H with 4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores should be a decent companion for the RTX 4050. This GPU is on average 5% slower than the RTX 3060 as far as raster performance goes, but features DLSS 3 compatibility plus frame generation, which can add ~40% more fps compared to the previous gen solution. Users may further upgrade the RAM capacity to 32 GB and the storage space to 1 TB.
Display-wise, this Nitro 5 configuration gets a 15.6-inch IPS panel with 144 Hz refresh rate, 1080p resolution, 63% sRGB color gamut and ~250 nit peak brightness.
Port selection includes 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (full option), 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1 video output, audio jack and GbE jack. Wireless connectivity is offered via a Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.1 card. The keyboard features 4 RGB zones, the web-cam is limited to 720p, and the battery is fairly small at 59 Wh. Total system weight is 5.51 lbs (2.5 kg) and the profile measures 1 inch (2.69 cm).
