Although reviews of the RTX 4060 are scheduled to go live on June 28, a handful of YouTube channels have already published the card’s performance in Cyberpunk 2077. These early teasers mainly focus on the RTX 4060 performance with DLSS and Frame Generation enabled.

The RTX 4060 is set to launch on June 29 for US$299. While the full-length reviews of the card are expected to go live tomorrow on June 28, select media outlets have dropped preliminary RTX 4060 performance comparisons in Cyberpunk 2077 with and without using DLSS 3 Frame Generation.

Starting off with JayzTwoCents, the reviewer detailed that the RTX 4060 managed 81 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077’s built-in benchmark. The benchmark was running at 1080p/Ultra without DLSS and ray tracing. As a comparison, the reviewer claimed the RTX 3060 TUF pushed out 64 FPS in the same test resulting in a 27% delta between the two GPUs. Furthermore, the 84 FPS result of the RTX 4060 is 12% and 20% behind the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 4060 Ti respectively.

Interestingly, when Jay pushed the card to the maximum power limit and put a 100 MHz overclock from inside Afterburner, the RTX 4060 records 82.33 FPS or only 1 FPS more.

Unsurprisingly, the RTX 4060 performed much better with DLSS enabled. Jay’s playthrough of the game showed the game reaching 90 FPS at 1080p/Ultra with DLSS Quality mode enabled. The game ran even better with DLSS 3 Frame Generation as the RTX 4060 produced more than 120 FPS at 1080p/Ultra with RT off and close to 100 FPS with ray traced reflections, Shadows, and “Medium” quality lighting.

According to Daniel Owens who specifically tested the RTX 4060 with DLSS and ray tracing enabled at 1080p, the RTX 4060 appeared 19% faster than the RTX 3060 12 GB with DLSS “Balanced” mode. As expected, the RTX 4060 performance with Frame Generation was well ahead of the RTX 3060 12 GB as it managed more than 100 FPS.

An interesting thing to note here is that Daniel mentioned selecting the game settings “to keep the VRAM usage below 8 GB”. According to ComputerBase, these settings were mandated by NVIDIA and the company plans to use such pre-review coverage on a bigger scale in the future.

Fortunately, comprehensive reviews of the RTX 4060 are on the horizon allowing us to look deeper into the RTX 4060’s performance in different titles with varied graphical presets and whether or not the 8 GB of VRAM becomes an issue for the GPU.
