Oura announces new integrations with three continuous glucose monitors
Oura has announced several new partnerships to link continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices to its Smart Ring. The companies that integrate with Oura include January, which claims to be the world’s first virtual CGM, Supersapiens, currently only available in Europe, and Veri. While CGMs are commonly used to monitor diabetes, they are becoming increasingly popular for general health monitoring.
Oura will now be able to show how what you eat or how you exercise affects your body in new ways. Customers who use one of these glucose monitoring gadgets can combine the data collected by the CGM with metrics taken by their Oura Smart Ring, helping them to link their glucose levels with sleep and workout effectiveness. For example, hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels) can lead to restlessness or night sweats, and hyperglycemia (high blood glucose levels) can increase urination frequency, which can disturb sleep.
Lack of sleep can also impair glucose metabolism and increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The partner app typically triggers the integration; for example, Supersapiens customers can use the Integration Panel under Profile > Settings to connect their Oura wearable and automate data import. It is worth noting that data is passed from Oura to January, Supersapiens or Very, not vice versa.
