Rumor | iQOO 11S drops "Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2" in favor of unprecedented RAM spec
iQOO has now posted a reservations page for the 11S on its Chinese-market website, revealing that the upcoming device does indeed look like an 11 Pro with a flat display and a vegan leather rear panel. Its teasers suggest that it will have rear cameras with "VCS" technology from its brand's parent Vivo.
However, they also make absolutely no mention of a new version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, leading to speculation that it will launch with the exact same platform as its 11 and 11 Pro siblings after all. Indeed, according to legendary tipster Digital Chat Station, it will compensate for this lapse with a second-gen "independent display chip".
The RedMagic 8S Pro may have little to laugh about, however - unless Google Translate has gone very wrong on Digital Chat Station's new Weibo post, the iQOO 11S is set to launch with a ground-breaking 24GB RAM top-end SKU (or, just possibly, internal flash storage with unusually huge individual stacks).
The mid-year flagship remix may also pair that spec with a "super super super large VC" (or vapor chamber), thus potentially pushing the brand's mobile gaming credentials to their fastest speed yet. Then again, any truth to these new hyper-driven rumors remains to be seen. In the meantime, iQOO has confirmed that the 11S will debut alongside new "TWS 1" earbuds on July 4, 2023 at 19:00 Beijing time (13:00 CET).
