RedMagic 8S Pro to launch with hidden selfie camera and RGB fan
Nubia has now revealed the design of the RedMagic 8S Pro, a day after confirming hardware details about its next gaming smartphone. To recap, Nubia previously announced that the handset would feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, an announced variant that may be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy by another name. Additionally, the smartphone will be available with up to 24 GB of RAM, matching the iQOO 11S.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the RedMagic 8S Pro largely adopts the design of the current RedMagic 8 Pro. Hence, the former has a squared chassis with three centred rear-facing cameras arranged in a vertical format. According to Nubia, the RedMagic 8S Pro adds an optional RGB fan, the usage of which is unknown for now. Theoretically, the fan should help pull excess heat away from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, but it could also be there as an affectation.
Moreover, the RedMagic 8S Pro has a 3.5 mm jack, unlike most modern flagship smartphones. Nubia promotes the handset as featuring a fourth-generation under-display camera (UDC) too, yielding an uninterrupted gaming experience. Typically, UDCs cannot match the image quality of conventional front-facing cameras, so it remains to be seen whether this also applies to the RedMagic 8S Pro. Nubia will fully unveil the RedMagic 8S Pro on July 5; the company has not confirmed a global launch date, though.
