RedMagic 8S Pro: Launch date and 24 GB RAM confirmed for first smartphone with overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version
Nubia has outlined the release date of the RedMagic 8S Pro, confirming earlier rumours. As the teasers below show, the RedMagic 8S Pro will debut on July 5 at 15:00 CST (07:00 UTC). Nubia has not revealed a global release date yet, the RedMagic 8 Pro Global Edition arrived a month or so after its Chinese sibling.
While the design of the RedMagic 8S Pro remains unknown for now, Nubia has shared some specifications for its next gaming smartphone. Specifically, the handset will feature an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, dubbed the 'Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version'. So far, Nubia has confirmed that the Leading Version will offer a 3.36 GHz peak CPU clock speed, a 160 MHz overclock.
In other words, the Leading Version has the same peak CPU clock speed as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which also has a 39 MHz GPU boost to 719 MHz. With Qualcomm having not yet commented on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, it is unclear whether it is a mere Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy re-branding or an even faster variant. Regardless, Nubia will pair the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version with 24 GB of RAM, matching the iQOO 11S that launches a day earlier than the RedMagic 8S Pro.
