According to Xiaomiui, Xiaomi is in the latter stages of developing MIUI 14.1, an interim release before it jumps to MIUI 15. Typically, Xiaomi presents major MIUI updates in late autumn alongside new flagship smartphones, as was the case last year with MIUI 14 and the Xiaomi 13 series. Thus, MIUI 15 may arrive months after Google releases stable Android 14 builds, likely leaving many recent premium Xiaomi smartphones without the latter update until late 2023 or early 2024.
Supposedly, MIUI 14.1 will serve as an interlude until Xiaomi has finalised MIUI 15, much like MIUI 13.1 did for the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. While Xiaomiui has not revealed what new features MIUI 14.1 will offer compared to MIUI 14, it should contain all the changes that Google has included in its Android 14 Beta builds. The website adds that Xiaomi only plans to release MIUI 14.1 to the following devices:
- Redmi K60
- Redmi K60 Pro
- Xiaomi 13
- Xiaomi 13 Pro
- Xiaomi 13 Ultra
Xiaomi is expected to begin its initial MIUI 14.1 rollout between August and November, during which only a limited number of handsets will receive the update. Reputedly, Xiaomi will continue to distribute the update to more eligible handsets in subsequent release phases. In comparison, other recent Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices will jump from Android 13 to Android 14 courtesy of MIUI 15.
