MSI G2712V: Basic gaming monitor previewed with 1080p resolution and 100 Hz refresh rate
MSI has introduced the G2712V, a 27-inch gaming monitor marketed towards gamers and esports enthusiasts. A glance at the monitor's specifications reveals that the G2712V may not meet the requirements of esports players, unlike the MSI G253PF. According to MSI, the G2712V relies on an IPS that outputs natively at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, matching the G253PF. However, the G2712V delivers a refresh rate of 100 Hz; the G253PF can reach 380 Hz when overclocked.
Additionally, the G2712V has an 8-bit colour panel (6-bit + FRC), 300 nits peak brightness brightness and 84.14% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. The monitor is rated for 1 ms MPRT response times too, while AMD FreeSync is on hand to minimise image tearing. MSI has only included the basic version of AMD FreeSync though, not Premium or Premium Pro.
Moreover, the G2712V has single DisplayPort 1.2a and HDMI 1.4b ports, a 3.5 mm jack and no USB ports for connecting peripherals. Similarly, the monitor's stand is limited to tilt adjustments, although there is a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount for using a third-party stand. MSI has not announced pricing details yet, but Prad.de has been informed that the monitor will not be available in Germany.
