Amazfit Pop 3R: New round smartwatch arrives with 45 mm case and AMOLED display
Amazfit has announced the Pop 3R, the round counterpart to the rectangular Pop 3S that it introduced roughly two weeks ago. While the pair share a common lineage, the Pop 3R is much smaller than the Pop 3S. Specifically, Amazfit has built the former around a 1.43-inch AMOLED display (466 x 466 pixels), which it covers with '2.5D glass'. The company's teaser images imply that the Pop 3R also has relatively thin bezels, although we would recommend waiting for pictures of retail units to arrive before passing any judgements in this regard.
In any case, the Pop 3R is 10.8 mm thick, measures 45.5 mm diagonally and is IP68 certified against dust and water ingress. Please note that Amazfit does not recommend that you should wear the smartwatch while swimming. Instead, the smartwatch's IP rating only guarantees water resistance when immersed in approximately 1 metre of water for over 30 minutes. Still, Amazfit integrates over 100 sports modes, a SpO2 sensor and a continuous heart rate monitor. Sleep tracking is also supported, but it appears that the Pop 3R lacks a GPS module.
Moreover, Amazfit pre-installs over 100 watch faces and has confirmed that you can create custom backgrounds using personal photos. Incidentally, Amazfit promotes the Pop 3R as offering up to 12 days of battery life, a figure that matches the official runtimes of the Pop 3S. The Amazfit Pop 3R will be orderable in India from June 29. At launch, Amazfit will sell the smartwatch with a silicone strap for INR 3,499 (~US$43). Mirroring the Pop 3S, the Pop 3R will be available with a metal watch strap too, but for a higher INR 3,999 (~US$49) price tag. Amazfit has not commented on availability outside India yet for either of its new Pop series smartwatches.
