Garmin has published new beta builds for the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S series, a few days after restarting its Beta Program with Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 specific updates. Incidentally, the new beta builds for Instinct smartwatches arrive roughly three weeks after Garmin delivered stable updates for all recent Instinct models, Instinct Crossover included. The new updates, available as Beta Version 13.10, also contain updated GPS and Sensor Hub software, which move to versions 6.70 and 25.60, respectively.
In a forum post, Garmin explains that it will only offer Beta Version 13.10 as a side-loadable build and not through automatically through its various update services. As such, you must download the relevant software from the same post, which contains download links for the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S. Moreover, the post includes installation instructions, should you be unfamiliar with the process of manually loading beta builds.
According to Garmin, Beta Version 13.10 adds five new features for all Instinct 2 smartwatches and bundles a few other bug fixes and improvements. Specifically, the update enables Morning Report, Training Readiness and a Workouts app, among other additions. Beta Version 13.10 should address a bug that caused saved location names to not display on a map too. The full list of changes that Beta Version 13.10 features over v12.25 is as follows:
- Added Gaming activity.
- Added Morning Report.
- Added Tides Glance.
- Added Training Readiness support.
- Added Workouts app.
- Fixed CIQ watch face crash when using Sleep Mode hot key.
- Fixed recovery time discrepancy between glance and widget.
- Fixed saved location names not displaying on map.
- Improved compass smoothness on the compass page.
