Garmin reveals Connect IQ version 6.2.0 with scalable fonts and new review request tool
Garmin has released Connect IQ version 6.2.0. Firstly, the company has updated its system numbering, with the major digit linking to the current system level (System 6), the minor digit indicating the current annual, quarterly maintenance release (Q2) and the micro digit relating to the SDK release within that quarter (0).
Connect IQ Version 6.2.0 brings support for scalable fonts to Garmin devices; you can view a list of compatible fonts here. This expands the previously restricted set of standard font sizes offered, reducing the workload for Garmin CIQ app developers and improving the user interface. The update also brings affine transformation support for bitmap to generate various effects.
Developers can now request that a user reviews their app after use, though you will need permission from the app store to do so. Garmin hopes this will lower the frequency of review requests so as not to annoy users. Another new feature is Red Shift, available on the recently released Epix (gen 2) Pro smartwatch. The tool makes it easier to view the screen in low lighting, with developers now able to simulate the feature for testing purposes. The System 6 features are available for varying Garmin smartwatch models (list below). You can download Connect IQ 6.2.0 here.
