The Garmin Fenix 6 series is receiving a new stable software update, as are its Enduro, Marq, Quatix 6 and Tactix Delta counterparts. Rolling out as firmware version 26.00, the update contains various bug fixes and some new features that have also reached other recent Garmin smartwatches.

Garmin has finally released a new stable update for the Fenix 6 series, which will also be available across Marq, Quatix 6 and Tactix Delta smartwatches. To recap, Garmin started rolling out Beta Version 26.00 almost two weeks ago. Incidentally, this beta build was the first Release Candidate during Garmin's latest alpha and beta development process. For some reason, Garmin's final round of public beta testing took longer for Fenix 6 smartwatches than it did for it successors, which received equivalent updates at the start of the month.

Nonetheless, Beta Version 26.00 has now reached stable status. According to Garmin's press release, firmware version 26.00 only adds an obstacle racing activity and enhances the altitude acclimation functionality that was present in earlier builds. However, the full changelog for the new stable update is as follows. Please note that firmware version 26.00 also bundles new GPS software, which has moved up to v6.60.

  • Added the ability to rate Connect IQ applications from the app settings menu.
  • Added Obstacle Course Racing activity.
  • Improved algorithm for calculating calories burned in Swim activities.
  • Improved voice prompts played during activities.
  • Updated Altitude Acclimation widget to now show altitude acclimation as a percent.
  • Updated the Golf activity to now allow users to disable the auto-lap notification when recording the activity.
  • Updated the inReach app to prompt the user when the inReach device is out of range when tracking is toggled on.
  • Fixed a possible issue that would cause the device to shut down when editing a set in the strength activity.
  • Fixed a possible shutdown that would occur when receiving smart notifications during an activity.
  • Fixed a possible shutdown when selecting a PacePro plan.
  • Fixed a potential issue where connecting headphones while shuffle playing music would cause the device to restart the playlist.
  • Fixed an issue where setting the default battery mode for an activity would not change the current battery mode of the current activity session.
  • Fixed a potential issue causing CIQ watch faces to fail to load.
  • Fixed a potential issue causing device shutdowns in strength activities.
  • Fixed an issue where the device would not exit Battery Saver Mode after charging fully.
  • Fixed an issue where the device would not show all saved waypoints on the waypoint list.

Garmin has issued firmware version 26.00 through its usual channels. Hence, it should be possible to download the new stable update through the company's Express software or wait for it to appear on your smartwatch as an over-the-air (OTA). While Garmin has not confirmed when it will begin public alpha/beta testing again, there are no signs that it will drop support for the Fenix 6 series and its counterparts any time soon.
