Rumor | One UI 5 Watch based on Wear OS 4 finally supports reset-free phone-switching
Google set out to make Wear OS smartwatches better equipped to compete properly with platforms such as the Apple Watch, starting with its switch to the major version 3 upgrade. However, the next update is on the way now, yet its UI still prevents a user from disconnecting a wearable from 1 smartphone and connecting it to another without a factory reset.
This potentially aggravating and inconvenient feature-bug has persisted, even if all devices in question are linked to the same Google account. However, 9to5Google now reports that Samsung, an OEM that bases its latest One UI for Galaxy Watch on Wear OS 4, has managed to address this.
The version of One UI 5 Watch in question is still in beta, yet has been observed to have a new feature that may launch as "Transfer your watch without resetting" in the stable version. It still has specific requirements, the Galaxy Wearable app and ensuring that all devices are connected and display the same pop-ups in the transfer process included.
Nevertheless, according to the contributor Max Weinbach, the new service works, all without a factory reset. 9to5Google also now suggests that the feature might roll out across all Wear OS 4-based devices in the fullness of time.
