Google refreshes Google Home with Wear OS and web updates, revised iOS version with Matter support to follow
Google is bringing more features to the various forms of the Google Home app. Last week, the company pushed new stable updates for Android and iOS devices. However, it has now revealed that it will soon add an iOS-specific feature 'in the coming weeks'. In a community post, Google explains that Matter support will be headed to iOS, starting with iOS 16.5.
Thus, it will be possible to control Matter devices in the Google Home app on iOS devices. Meanwhile, Google has introduced new updates for Home's Wear OS and web versions. As the images below show, the company has integrated a colour picker for compatible smart bulbs. Additionally, Google has enabled colour temperature controls; previously, it was only possible to power cycle a smart bulb.
Furthermore, Google has added Talk and Listen functionality to its Google Home web app. Currently, the web app is limited to viewing Nest cameras and doorbells, with no support for any other devices yet. According to the company, Talk and Listen is available across its Nest camera and doorbell range released within the last two years.
