Android 14 tipped to include native "battery health feature"
iPhone owners with the urge to check how much capacity for charge their device has now compared to when was new need to do no more than search "Battery Health" in iOS' Settings. However, those who run Android instead have never been so lucky, often turning to apps for an estimate of this data.
However, Google just might change that in Android 14. Well-known correspondent and researcher on the subject Mishaal Rahman reports that the smartphone and tablet software's latest betas finally has its own Settings screen with this information, as well as that on charging cycles, profiles and even the date on which the battery in question was made.
Then again, this data is apparently the product of new system or public Android APIs that state this information, as well as those responsible for charging status and remaining percentage. Accordingly, the new 'Android 14 Battery Health' UI's accuracy is dependent on that of those interfaces.
They only work to inform a system screen on the Pixel 7 series at the time of writing. Nevertheless, apps like Batt may be less than thrilled to see it coming should it still be there on the general stable Android 14 release.
