Mobvoi comments on Wear OS 3 availability and beta testing for TicWatch E3 and TicWatch Pro 3 smartwatches
Mobvoi is preparing to release the TicWatch Pro 5. However, the company's Wear OS 3 update remains unreleased. Previously, Mobvoi customer service representatives offered conflicting advice about the state of Wear OS 3 availability. In short, it seemed that Wear OS 3 would not arrive for the TicWatch E3 or the TicWatch Pro 3 series until Q3 2023.
Now, the company has publicly commented on the situation by publishing the statement on its global Twitter account. Embedded below, the statement features a brief apology and an assurance that its three smartwatches will eventually receive Wear OS 3. Unfortunately, it has not committed itself to a date by which it will deliver the OS update. Instead, it seems that Wear OS 3 for recent TicWatch models will debut after Google unveils Wear OS 4 or an equivalent.
Supposedly, it has taken Mobvoi longer than expected to optimise Wear OS 3 for its dual-layer screen technology. The company adds that it needed to implement 'further architecture upgrades and performance debugging' before rolling out the OS upgrade. To that end, Mobvoi has teased that it will soon commence an extensive, closed beta test soon. Seemingly, it will be possible for people to enrol on this beta test, which Mobvoi should announce on its social media platforms.
