Casio has launched the G-SHOCK MOVE DWH5600 smartwatch in the US. The same model was recently launched in Japan, under a slightly different product name DW-H5600, where five designs were unveiled, including a limited edition 40th Anniversary model.
The DWH5600 has an optical sensor with an LED light to monitor your heart rate. You can also track your blood oxygen level, and an accelerometer lets you count your daily steps. While the wearable does not have a built-in GPS, you can connect the watch to your smartphone to measure your distance travelled more accurately. As with Casio’s GBDH2000 model, released earlier this year, the DWH5600 uses the POLAR algorithm to analyze the data captured by the watch, offering insights into your sleep and workouts.
The Casio smartwatches measure 51.1 x 44.5 mm (~2.01 x 1.75 in) and have a Memory in Pixel (MIP) LED, making the screen readable in brighter conditions. You can also recharge the wearable via USB-C or solar; a full charge requires around two hours of charging on a sunny windowsill, providing up to seven days of battery life. The DWH5600-1 is black, while the DWH5600-2 is a light blue color. You can now pre-order the Casio G-SHOCK MOVE DWH5600-1 and DWH5600-2 for US$299. The new wearables are due to ship on May 19. It is unclear when the smartwatches will arrive in other markets like Europe.
