New Garmin GPS Golf smartwatches on the way with possibly improved connectivity
Several filings at the Telecoms Licensing System (TLS) in Singapore suggest new Garmin devices are coming. The first two listings are for GPS Golf smartwatches, with model names A04431 and A04432. The products will have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity. It has been speculated that these wearables could be a successor to the Garmin Approach S62, launched in 2020.
The Approach S62 is a GPS golf watch with over 41,000 preloaded courses and a virtual caddie to assist you with your game. The wearable lasts up to 14 days with typical use, or 20 hours in GPS mode, and has regular smartwatch features like smart notifications and contactless payment. The S62 does not support Wi-Fi connectivity, so this would be an upgrade for the new models. It is unclear how the A04431 and A04432 models differ; they could be two different sizes.
The third device is a Handheld GPS with the same Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity. The model, A04624, has appeared in other documents, including a UK Declaration of conformity, revealing it to be the GPSMAP 67, already available in the US for US$499.99 and the UK for £469.99; Garmin has not announced when the device will launch in Singapore. It also remains unclear when the company will release the new smartwatches or how much they will cost.
