The Forerunner 265 has now received Beta 4.15, its second beta update. Also a release candidate, Beta 4.15 focuses on addressing bugs that shipped with the Forerunner 265's launch software.

Garmin has released the second beta update for the Forerunner 265, its cheaper alternative to the Forerunner 965 and the successor to the Forerunner 255. To recap, Garmin released Beta Version 4.12 to the Forerunner 265 just over two weeks ago. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Beta Version 4.12 contained numerous changes from the Forerunner 265's launch software, mostly bug fixes.

In comparison, Beta Version 4.15 is a smaller update, albeit one with over a dozen changes. Specifically, this week's update for the Forerunner 265 contains the following new features and bug fixes:

  • Adds support for accessing a cycling event's associated power guide from the race widget.
  • Improves the wording used for cycling daily suggested workouts.
  • Adds support for showing the course point name on course point toasts.
  • Adds support for the battery life remaining in days field on CIQ watch faces.
  • Fixes an issue where icons were not displayed properly on watch faces with white backgrounds.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause sleep data and HRV not to be calculated overnight.
  • Fixes an issue where text message reactions could display invalid characters.
  • Fixes an issue where editing the data fields on the map page could cause the device to reset.
  • Fixes an issue where the calendar glance could show an all-day event as scheduled one day ahead of the correct day.
  • Fixes an issue where images used on the Virtual Partner page were cut off.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the stopwatch not to sound an alert even though alert tones are enabled.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the device to not allow language selection during initial setup after a device reset.
  • Fixes other minor issues.

Garmin notes that not all Forerunner 265 smartwatches are currently eligible to download Beta Version 4.15. Instead, the company is issuing Beta Version 4.15 in batches. As a result, Beta Version 4.15 should have reached 50% of eligible smartwatches so far, although Garmin hopes to deliver Beta Version 4.15 through Garmin Mobile Connect (GCM) within the next few days. Beta Version 4.15 is also a Release Candidate, so all Forerunner 265 smartwatches should soon receive v4.15 as a stable update if it contains no serious bugs.
