Garmin is rolling out Public Beta Version 15.16 for the Forerunner 945 LTE smartwatch. The update is identical to the earlier version 15.12, released in April, which was pulled due to issues flagged shortly after release. It is unclear precisely which problem caused Garmin to halt the rollout, with reported bugs linked to the Pool Swim activity, Morning Report and watch face resolution.
Public Beta Verison 15.16 adds features, including Daily Suggested Workouts for cycling activities, the ability to schedule sleep mode and an Acute Chronic Workload Ratio metric. You can now use the wearable for Wrist-Based Running Dynamics, tracking your cadence, stride length and other measures, without needing a secondary device like the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod. You can now add the Training Readiness data field to the watch face, and a Kalman filtering algorithm improves altimeter calibration. Various bug fixes are also issued with the software.
Version 15.16 is a Release Candidate, meaning an identical Live public update will be pushed to all wearables soon. At the time of writing, the update is rolled out to 20% of eligible Forerunner 945 LTE smartwatches; it is unclear when the rollout will be complete. If you wish to sign up for the Garmin Beta Program to receive updates before the general release, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
