Garmin is rolling out a long-awaited battery drain fix for the Fenix 7 series and its counterparts. Available as Beta Version 13.19, the update also contains several other bug fixes and an improvement from its predecessor.

Yet another beta update has arrived for Fenix 7, Enduro 2, Epix 2, Quatix 7 and Marq 2 series smartwatches. Last week, Garmin released Beta Versions 13.16, 13.17 and 13.18, all with various bug fixes ahead as the company moves towards issuing a new stable update. Although Beta Version 13.19 follows in its predecessor's footsteps by focusing on bug fixes, Garmin claims that it has also started addressing a long-standing battery drain issue.

According to the company, Connect IQ watch faces are likely to be the cause of excessive battery drain in version 13.xx builds. Garmin advises that while it expects 'improvement from this fix for users this applies to', it will continue to track battery drain reports through a dedicated forum post. For reference, Garmin has bundled the following other changes within Beta Version 13.19 too:

  • Fixed issue where settings page would not display "Off" when Auto Rest is disabled.
  • Fixed obstacle course race tip showing multiple times.
  • Fixed possible issue where a transit card's balance might not update.
  • Fixed possible issue where CIQ watch faces may not enter sleep.
  • Fixed possible issue where recorded speed would spike unexpectedly in activities.
  • Fixed possible issue where text would be cutoff on the pairing QR code page.
  • Fixed possible issue where the course elevation min/max markers would be incorrect.
  • Fixed possible shutdown when editing activity data screen pages.
  • Improved spacing of Acute/Chronic Workload Ratio to avoid text overlapping.

Please note that Beta Version 13.19 has only reached 25% rollout for now. As such, it could be a few days before the update automatically reaches your smartwatch. Alternatively, you can head to System - Software Update - Check for Updates to download the update manually. Garmin notes it remains possible to download Beta Version 13.19 through Garmin Express. This only applies to smartwatches within its target rollout percentage, though. Please see Garmin's forum post for more information.
