Garmin has released Public Beta Version 15.12 for the Forerunner 945 LTE smartwatch. The new software is the first update since v14.50, launched in early March, and mostly brings new features to the wearable. For example, new Daily Suggested Workouts for cycling activities have been added, which can help to improve your fitness level.
Wrist-Based Running Dynamics, which lets you track metrics like cadence and stride length, have been added to the wearable, as has the Acute Chronic Workload Ratio measurement. The Altitude Acclimation widget has been improved, including use of a Kalman filtering algorithm for better altimeter calibration. Other new tools include scheduling Sleep Mode and several new data fields, like training readiness, on the watch face. The release notes also state that v15.12 will “add pre-recorded speech files”, though their use is unclear. Plus, Garmin has updated Text Languages and Mobile Translations and provides fixes for a range of bugs.
The software also includes Sensor Hub Update 24.13 to work alongside the new firmware. At the time of writing, the Garmin Public Beta Version 15.12 is rolled out to around 20% of eligible Forerunner 945 LTE smartwatches. The update is a Release Candidate, meaning it should roll out to wearables not registered for the Garmin Beta Program soon. Garmin watch owners who wish to join the Beta Program can do so via Garmin Connect.
