According to the GMK's leaked slides, the first mini PCs powered by AMD's Ryzen 7 7840H and Ryzen 9 7940H APUs should launch in just a few weeks. The spec sheet shows that the Radeon 780M iGPU will benefit from LPDDR5x-7500 RAM in capacities of up to 256 GB. Minisforum, Morefine and Asus are also expected to launch similar configurations in June-July.

While the first laptops with AMD’s “Phoenix” processors featuring Zen 4 cores and powerful RDNA 3 iGPUs are already available in limited quantities, the mini PC crowd is eagerly waiting for details on the first models to feature the Ryzen 7040 lineup. Judging by GMK’s leaked slides from Reddit, it looks like mini PC fans will only need to wait until May.

The slides posted by redditor u/andyzoooo also suggest that Minisforum and Morefine will release similarly spec-ed mini PCs some time in June-July. Minisforum yesterday asked its Discord community to come with spec suggestions for the upcoming Ryzen 9 7940H models. Additionally, there is also a mention regarding Asus’s PN53 series that was revealed last year, and, in addition to the already available Ryzen 7030-powered models, Asus will add an R7 7840H option.

One of GMK’s slides reveals that its upcoming mini PCs will feature the Ryzen 7 7840H as well as the Ryzen 9 7940H processors, both integrating the powerful Radeon 780M GPU with 12 RDNA 3 cores. GMK estimates that these would be around 20% faster than last year’s Ryen 6000 series, and the iGPU would be almost 30% faster thanks to the newly supported LPDDR5x-7500 RAM. This means that the 780M is roughly as fast as an Nvidia GTX 1660 dGPU. Interestingly enough, the new mini PCs appear to support up to 4X soldered RAM modules so capacities up to 256 GB are possible. The Ryzen 9 7940H processor can be set to run at 80 W TDP.

Regarding port selection, the GMK slides highlight the inclusion of a USB4 and 2x HDMI ports plus 4x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2. Minisforum might go with 2x USB4 as per the suggestions coming from some Discord community members.

As far as price goes, the GMK slides suggest at least 3000 Yuan for the Ryzen 7040 models, which would convert to US$433. However, knowing that these models come with soldered RAM only, the price appears to be too low. Realistically, the R7 7840H would cost at least US$600, while the R9 7940H will most likely start at US$800.
