Intel has presented the NUC 13 Pro Vivid Canyon, also known as the Intel NUC 13 Pro Desk Edition. Based around a powerful mini-PC with a Raptor Lake processor that has 12 cores, the NUC 13 Pro Vivid Canyon also has Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, among other features.

Intel has introduced a new version of the NUC 13 Pro, codenamed Vivid Canyon. According to Intel, it will sell the new model as the NUC 13 Pro Desk Edition, on account of its more aesthetically-pleasing design. With its honeycomb ventilation grilles, it appears the Desk Edition is a retail version of the prototype that Intel showcased last year.

Supposedly, the ventilation system serves a practical purpose, allowing the Desk Edition to maintain 32 dB fan noise while pushing the Core i5-1340P or the Core i7-1360P. While the two processor options differ slightly, both feature four performance CPU cores, eight efficiency CPU cores and an Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU. Additionally, Intel has integrated twin SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and an M.2 2280 SSD connected via PCIe 4.0.

Moreover, the Desk Edition has front and rear I/O, including twin Thunderbolt 4 ports. As the images below show, Intel has also included a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection and two front-mounted USB Type-A ports. For reference, the Desk Edition measures 117 x 112 x 37 mm and ships with a 120 W external PSU. The NUC 13 Pro Vivid Canyon starts at US$420 as a barebones unit and rises to US$949 for a fully configured model.
