Chuwi has released a new LarkBox X, dubbed the LarkBox X 2023. Surprisingly, the new LarkBox X may well offer worse CPU performance than its predecessor, which featured the AMD Ryzen 7 3750H. For reference, the Ryzen 7 3750H is a quad-core APU based on Zen+ CPU cores with a 35 W TDP and a Radeon RX Vega 10 iGPU.
In comparison, the LarkBox X 2023 relies on the Processor N100, a member of the Intel Alder Lake-N family. Also a quad-core processor, the Processor N100 has a 6 W TDP, lacks Intel Hyper-Threading support and features a UHD Graphics Xe iGPU with 24 Execution Units (EUs). Theoretically, the Processor N100 will near the single-core performance of the Ryzen 7 3750H, although it will fall short in multi-core work owing to having half as many threads as the older AMD APU.
The LarkBox X 2023 ships with 12 GB of soldered LPDDR5 RAM and has a 512 GB SSD, twice the capacity as last year's model. Additionally, Chuwi has upgraded the LarkBox X's two Ethernet ports to 2.5 Gigabit speeds; the five USB ports, DisplayPort, HDMI and 3.5 mm jack remain. The LarkBox X 2023 will be available for US$199, half the price of its predecessor.
