GEEKOM x Asus AS 6 challenges the Intel NUC 13 Pro with Ryzen 6000 power
GEEKOM has "teamed up" with Asus to present a new mini-PC "with better overall performance than the Intel NUC 13 Pro". Accordingly, the AS 6 is backed to be the ideal new tiny desktop PC for either work or gaming.
Then again, the only graphics in evidence here are conferred by those that come integrated with the AS 6's choice of the Ryzen 7 6800H or 9 6900HX processors. Nevertheless, those Radeon 680M graphics seem to be most of the basis for GEEKOM's Arena Canyon-beating claims, as they deliver performance increased by "nearly 90% compared to Intel Iris Xe Graphics".
The AS 6's all-AMD platform is also cooled by a "Smart Fan" system that can switch between "Performance" and "Quiet" modes, or be muffled through AI, via the MyASUS solution. There are also pre-loads for mobile device pairing and wireless connectivity optimization courtesy of GEEKOM's new partner.
That software will be acting on Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 specs, not to mention dual HDMI 2.1 ports, especially if they are used with the AS 6's front and rear USB4 ports to create the quad-4K monitor the mini-PC is rated to maintain.
Alternatively, the device could drive a single 8K display via 1 of those type-C ports - furthermore, there is also 1 DisplayPort 1.4 for an up-to-5K monitor; however, none of them seem to be capable at running at anything over 60Hz. In addition, the AS 6 can only support up to 32GB of RAM, whereas the NUC 13 Pro can accommodate 64GB.
Then again, the new GEEKOM x Asus mini-PC comes with the maximum amount of RAM out of the box at a starting pre-order price of US$659 for a 7 6800H-powered SKU, or US$90 more for one with the top-end 9 6900HX option.
