Alienware x16 announced with AMD Ryzen 7000HS options up to the Ryzen 9 7940HS, 175 W Nvidia RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, and USB4 ^↺

Dell first introduced the all-metal Legend 3 design-based Alienware x16 at CES 2023. The original launch, however, only detailed the Intel variant, which offers several 13th gen Raptor Lake-H options up to the Core i9-13900HK. Now, Dell is making the Alienware x16 widely available in both Intel and AMD options.

The Alienware x16 offers several AMD Ryzen 7000 options including the Ryzen 5 7640HS, Ryzen 7 7840HS, and the Ryzen 9 7940HS. GPU choices are similar to what we've seen with the Intel SKUs with up to a 175 W Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 on offer. However, unlike with Intel, Alienware is offering the Element 31 thermal interface material only on configurations with the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. These flagship SKUs also get to use vapor chamber cooling. 

Display options are similar to the Intel variant including 16-inch 2560 x 1600 165 Hz, 1920 x 1200 480 Hz, and 2560 x 1600 240 Hz. All SKUs come with support for Dolby Vision, support 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and feature Nvidia G-Sync. 

The other difference between the Alienware x16 Intel and AMD offerings is on the networking side. While Dell equips the Intel version with Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 or AX1690 options, the AMD variants get either a MediaTek MT7922 or a Qualcomm WCN6856 Wi-Fi 6E card.

Port selection is largely the same between both Intel and AMD models. However, the AMD SKUs lack Thunderbolt 4 and offer USB4 instead.

The Alienware x16 starts from US$3,099 for the Intel variant with an RTX 4080 Laptop GPU and will be available from February 14. Additional configs will be made available later including the entry-level variant starting from US$2,199. The AMD options will be available from Q2 2023. Pricing of the AMD variants will be announced closer to availability.
