Acer has showcased AMD Ryzen 7000 series versions of the Nitro 16 and Nitro 17. Landing this spring in the Eurozone, China and the US, the pair will also come with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs and 165 Hz displays at mid-range price points.

Acer has refreshed its Nitro gaming laptop series with new 16-inch and 17-inch models, having showcased Intel Raptor Lake-HX versions of the latter last month at CES 2023. Built around the same angular and simple design in which the Nitro 17 Intel is available, the Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 also have RGB-backlit keyboards, large trackpads and dedicated number pads. Additionally, while Acer offers the pair with up to a 1440p and 165 Hz panel, base models ship with 1080p and 144 Hz options instead.

Acer still needs to publish complete datasheets for either laptop, despite listing both on its website. However, both will be available with AMD Ryzen 7000 APUs, likely up to the Ryzen 7 7745HX or Ryzen 9 7945HX. For reference, AMD bases both APUs on its Zen 4 architecture, which it codenamed Dragon Range. Moreover, the forthcoming gaming laptops will be configurable with up to 32 GB DDR5-4800 RAM and 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Unfortunately, it is unclear what GPUs will power the Nitro 16 and Nitro 17. At the time of writing, Acer has only outlined that the pair will feature NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series parts.

Acer promises to include a wide range of ports too, including HDMI 2.1, triple USB Type-A connections and USB Type-C with USB Power Delivery support. Acer will start selling AMD-powered Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 gaming laptops in April in China, where it will be available for CNY 7,099 (~US$1,054). Meanwhile, the Nitro 16 will launch in the Eurozone and the US a month later for €1,499 and US$1,149.99, respectively. By contrast, the Nitro 17 (AN17-41) will launch in May for €1,199.99 in the US and €1,599 in the Eurozone. Acer has not commented on availability in China yet, though.
