Alienware m16 will launch alongside the 18-inch model for US$2,599; AMD options to arrive in Q2
Dell's Alienware m16 is a slightly more compact gaming laptop for gamers who want to avoid lugging around a desktop replacement. It was announced alongside several other models at CES 2023, all powered by current-gen hardware from Intel, Nvidia and AMD. Dell has now announced that the Alienware m16 will be available on February 9, the same day as the 18-inch Alienware m18.
Given its slightly smaller screen, the Alienware m16 will be a bit more affordable, with the GeForce RTX 4080 model retailing at US$2,599. The entry-level model will start at US$1,899/CA$2,699. SKUs featuring AMD Ryzen/Radeon hardware will be available in Q2, 2023. Dell will reveal their prices closer to launch. As stated earlier, the primary differences between the Alienware m16 and m18 lie in their screens. The former packs a 16-inch IPS LCD panel and is available in three configurations, QHD+ 240 Hz, QHD+ 165 Hz, and FHD+ 480 Hz.
Everything else is essentially the same, except for the Alienware m16's marginally smaller 6-cell 86 Wh battery (vs 97 Wh on the m18) and fewer USB ports. CPU, GPU, memory, and storage options are identical across both SKUs. Additionally, it is possible to configure the Alienware m16 with Intel Raptor Lake-HX and AMD Dragon Range processors, the entire Nvidia RTX 40 series and the Radeon RX 7600M XT. Memory and storage max out at 64 GB and 9 TB, respectively.
