CES 2023 | Alienware x16 introduced as world's most premium gaming laptop with Core i9-13900HK and 175 W RTX 4090 options, AMD variants coming in Q2

Alongside the new Alienware m18 and the Alienware x14 R2, Dell is also introducing a new Alienware x16 laptop. Dubbed, the "world's most premium gaming laptop", the Alienware x16 brings forth a new Lunar Silver Legend 3.0 chassis that is about 18.57 mm thick and weighs 2.72 kgs.

The Alienware x16 offers three 16-inch display options: QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 165 Hz, QHD+ 240 Hz, and FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 480 Hz. All three panels support Dolby Vision HDR, sport a 3 ms response time, cover 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and are G-Sync capable. The display also houses a FHD IR webcam for Windows Hello-based logins.

Dell offers several Intel Raptor Lake-H processor options with the Alienware x16 including the Core i7-13620H, Core i7-13700H, and the Core i9-13900HK. These are combined with the latest Nvidia Ada RTX 40 Laptop GPUs of the likes of the 140 W RTX 4050 6 GB, 140 W RTX 4060 8 GB, 140 W RTX 4070 8 GB, 175 W RTX 4080 12 GB, and the 175 W RTX 4090 16 GB.

All Alienware x16 configs use the Gallium-Silicone based Element 31 thermal interface material for both the CPU and the GPU. Dell said that configurations based on the RTX 4080 and the RTX 4090 use vapor chamber cooling. A 12-phase VRM supplies consistent power to keep the GPU working at its peak for long gaming durations.

Buyers can configure the Alienware x16 with RAM options up to 32 GB of LPDDR5-6000 (for the Core i9-13900HK variant) and up to 4 TB of PCIe storage. 

There's also the option of configuring the device with an Alien X Series keyboard or a CherryMX ultra-low profile mechanical keyboard, both with per-key AlienFX RGB lighting. Select configs also include AlienFX effects for the touchpad, which Dell says is 15% larger than the one in the Alienware x17 R2.

Networking needs are handled by an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 or AX1690 WLAN card with Bluetooth 5.3. All Alienware x16 models are Dolby Atmos-certified.

The Alienware x16 will be available in Q1 2023 at prices starting from US$3,099. An entry-level model starting at US$2,149.99 will be introduced at a later date. Dell also said that a version of the Alienware x16 with AMD options will be announced in Q2 2023.
