AYA NEO to offer AMD Ryzen 7 7840U and other hardware upgrades for existing gaming handhelds
Earlier this week, AYA NEO announced plans to release AMD Ryzen 7 7840U-powered gaming handhelds as the AYA NEO 2S and AYA NEO GEEK 1S. While these are likely the first of many Zen 4 and RDNA 3-based devices that AYA NEO releases, it has also unveiled plans to upgrade some existing Ryzen 7 6800U-based models. This does not appear to be the case with the SLIDE though, which AYA NEO continues to hold back.
Instead, the company intends to provide Ryzen 7000 series upgrades or the AYA NEO 2 and the AIR Plus. According to posts on its social media channel, customers will be offered one of two upgrade methods. On the one hand, AYA NEO will dispatch AIR Plus units with Ryzen 7000 APUs, albeit at an undisclosed date for now. On the other hand, it will also be possible to ship units back to AYA NEO for its engineers to perform the upgrade.
Unfortunately, the timings and prices for the second option are unknown for too. Moreover, AYA NEO has presented a speaker upgrade package for original AIR units. The company hopes to have the AIR Speaker Upgrade Kit ready by the middle of May, although there will be the option of having AYA NEO upgrade the speakers as well. Similarly, AYA NEO will offer a new heat sink kit for AYA NEO 2 and AYA NEO GEEK units, an overview of which can be found in the pictures below.
