AYA NEO is now selling the GEEK and the AYA NEO 2 through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The company's fourth campaign to date, the AYA NEO 2 and AYA NEO GEEK have already proven popular with handheld gaming fans. At the time of writing, the campaign has surpassed US$800,000 from backers, despite only going live earlier today.
To recap, both models rely on the Ryzen 7 6800U, a Zen 3+ APU with 8-core CPU cores, 16 threads, and a 28 W TDP. Additionally, AMD has integrated the Radeon 680M, which remains an excellent alternative to discrete graphics for gaming handhelds. For reference, the Radeon 680M relies on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture and features 12 Compute Units. According to our database, the Radeon 680M manages approximately 68% of the performance of the Radeon RX 6500M, which has 16 CUs, dedicated VRAM, a higher TDP and Infinity Cache.
As the graphics below show, the AYA NEO GEEK is the cheaper option, even discounting the company's shortlived Early Bird prices. In part, this is because AYA NEO equips the Fantasy Black version of the AYA NEO GEEK with a lesser 800p display. As it stands, all AYA NEO 2 colousr and the Crystal Purple edition of the AYA NEO GEEK will receive a 1200p display. Moreover, AYA NEO sells several packages, should you need a carry case, screen protector, docking station or a wireless controller. However, it is worth noting that AYA NEO will not begin shipping units until December at the earliest. More details about both consoles can be found on the campaign page.
