Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Geekbench listing confirms marginal performance uplift over the RTX 3060
Initially supposed to launch sometime in July, the GeForce RTX 4060 is now set to debut before the month ends. Nvidia claims it is up to 2x faster than its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 3060, in some titles with DLSS switched on. However, its recent Geekbench appearance shows a much lower figure.
It scores 105,630 in Geekbench's OpenCL benchmark, making it about around 18% faster than the GeForce RTX 3060 (89,000). Things aren't much different in Vulkan, where the GeForce RTX 4060 gets 99,419 points, making it roughly 17% faster than its predecessor. It also confirms some GeForce RTX 4060 specs, including 24 SMs (Streaming Multiprocessors) and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.
While Geekbench isn't the best platform to test a graphics card's gaming prowess, it gives us a rough idea of how much firepower it packs. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti has been lambasted for its anaemic performance, and the GeForce RTX 4060 is unlikely to fare any better. To make matters, many board partners are slashing GeForce RTX 4060 Ti prices just weeks after launch, giving gamers even less of an incentive to buy the RTX 4060 at launch.
