Portal is upgraded to support the latest RTX 4000-series ray-tracing features and DLSS 3 with NVIDIA RTX Remix
Portal has gunned its way into the NVIDIA Project Beyond showcase as the first official example of what RTX Remix can do. It has been introduced as a new "modding platform to create stunning remasters of classic games".
Accordingly, NVIDIA's Lightspeed Studios has leveraged the new feature to make Portal with RTX, a "re-imagined" version of the iconic game with "a striking new look and feel" thanks to the addition of ray-tracing for the first time.
It will also support the latest version of DLSS, introduced with the 4080 and 4090 cards. RTX Remix will be released to the public as a new update to NVIDIA Omniverse, the OEM's metaverse app-development platform, which is part of the Studio suite of creator resources in general.
Portal with RTX will be released in November 2022 to coincide with that of NVIDIA's new flagship GPUs as well as its own 15th anniversary. It will come as a free DLC for those who own the original game from that date.
