NVIDIA is just a few hours away from unveiling the RTX 40 series, currently referred to by the company as #ProjectBeyond. However, VideoCardz claims to have obtained a picture of the RTX 4090 Founders Edition, embedded below. In a homage to past GeForce launches, the picture shows Jensen Huang proudly holding the RTX 4090 Founders Edition. Sadly, this appears to be a mock-up, not a still from today's presentation.
Regardless, the RTX 4090 Founders Edition has a familiar design, albeit with a few tweaks from the RTX 30 series. On the one hand, the Founders Edition model is a triple-slot card, denoted by the three prongs on its bracket plate. The dual-fan design returns too, with a fan on each side. On the other hand, the card has a large axial fan than its predecessor, matching an earlier RTX 4080 Founders Edition-related leak. As far as we can tell, the new also fan has fewer blades.
Additionally, NVIDIA has revised its RTX branding, changing the model number to NVIDIA Sans NALA, a font that is already displayed on the company's website. Unfortunately, pricing and a release date remain unknown at this stage. Presumably, NVIDIA will confirm both during today's announcement, where it should also introduce the 12 GB and 16 GB versions of the RTX 4080. Based on current rumours, the RTX 4090 will rely on the AD102 with 16,384 CUDA cores, 24 GB of GDDR6X VRAM and a 450 W TDP. In comparison, the RTX 4080 12 GB is expected to be the showcase for the AD104, with the AD103 reserved for the RTX 4080 16 GB.
