Amazfit has announced that it is now working on a purpose-built GPS Wear device for running - although its release is far from imminent. In the meantime, it has something else for aspiring fitness-enthused beta-testers: a chance to get a unit of the upcoming "sports watch" for free in advance, and assess its apparently cutting-edge tracking technology.

Amazfit has confirmed that it is now working on a new smartwatch - however, it is not the GTR 5 as might be anticipated, but a completely new product called the GPS Wear. The Zepp Health brand already asserts that it can "revolutionize your tracking experience", particularly while running.

In the meantime, Amazfit would clearly like to validate its ability to do so, by inviting consumers to "experience unrivaled GPS accuracy" via "cutting-edge technology". That probably inadvertent indictment of its predecessors involves becoming a beta tester willing to send data such as weekly experiential updates based on their use of a free unit of the watch in advance of its launch.

The brand seems to be most interested in applicants to its Program with previous experience of GPS trackers for running, and who may have thoughts on how they can be improved. If that sounds like you, you can apply via Amazfit's new Google form.
