New Samsung Galaxy Watch6 models surface before Galaxy Unpacked event
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published initial documentation for four new Samsung smartwatches. Currently, the FCC has revealed details about the SM-R930, SM-R935, SM-R940 and SM-R945, which all feature round displays like previous Galaxy Watch models. For reference, Samsung certified SM-R95x and SM-R96x models earlier this year.
Based on previous Samsung releases, the SM-R935 and SM-R945 are the LTE variants of the SM-R930 and SM-R940, respectively. The FCC's documentation supports this, with the regulatory body only performing LTE tests on the SM-R935 and SM-R945 and not the SM-R930 or SM-R940. While the FCC does not mention any display sizes in the documents it has published so far, the SM-R930 and SM-R935 are expected to be 40 mm versions of the regular Galaxy Watch6.
Similarly, model numbers SM-R940 and SM-R945 should relate to the 44 mm variants of the Galaxy Watch6. According to the FCC, all models support IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/a, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, plus modern Bluetooth standards. Moreover, the Galaxy Watch6 series will feature an NFC module for contactless payments and GNSS for positioning, as well as wireless charging. Samsung's new smartwatch will ship with their predecessor's charger though, ER-OR900, indicating no change in charging speed. As it stands, Samsung is rumoured to have lined up a Galaxy Unpacked event next month where it will also unveil the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5.
