Garmin releases new features to Forerunner, Instinct 2, Fenix 7, Epix 2, Marq 2 and Enduro 2 smartwatches with latest stable update
Garmin has announced in a press release the rollout of new stable updates for numerous smartwatch models spanning the Fenix 7, Epix 2, Marq 2 and Enduro 2 series. The company also names the Instinct 2 series and unnamed Forerunner models, likely to be Forerunner x45, x55 and x65 smartwatches. As usual, Garmin will distribute these updates to all related model variants across these various series.
According to Garmin, it has added a new obstacle racing activity that allows the recording of the number of obstacles overcome, the time spent running and, when completing obstacle courses, split times and obstacle stages. As always, Garmin will monitor your heart rate and other key metrics when obstacle racing tracking is active. Additionally, Garmin has introduced improved acclimation options, with a percentage now shown to demonstrate the extent to which your body has adapted to altitude changes.
Moreover, the new patch contains new running dynamics parameters, including cadence, ground contact time and stride length, without requiring additional accessories or apps. Also, there is now an Adaptive Coaching option that creates a personalised training plan for cyclists and provides a recommended training session daily. Garmin adds that these training plans will adapt based on current performance and upcoming races, provided that they have been included in the Garmin Connect calendar. Please see Garmin's press release for more details.
Update
Garmin has now clarified which features it has restricted to certain smartwatches. The company has also confirmed the Forerunner smartwatches that are eligible for its June 2023 update.
