June Feature Drop brings new features to recent Pixel smartphones and Pixel Watch
Google has announced a number of new features for Android and Wear OS, shortly before it starts shipping the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. While the new features will reach existing Pixel products later today, Pixel Watch included, it will be up to other OEMs to integrate some of these changes on their devices. Gboard's new emoji combinations should be available across all devices following an app update, though.
According to Google, it has updated its Emoji Kitchen to contain sea creatures like dolphins, sharks and whales. Similarly, Google has added 'Dark web report' within the Google One app, a feature that allows you to scan the dark web to see if your Google password or social security number (SSN) have been leaked. For now, this feature is a US-exclusive, although Google hopes to begin rolling it out to over 20 countries in the next few months.
Additionally, the June Feature Drop adds a Google Keep Tile in Wear OS that displays a single note or a to-do list. Likewise, Google has introduced a trio of new Android widgets for smartphones and tablets. Specifically, it has developed a Google Finance widget to show stock prices, and a Google News widget and a Google TV widget for recommending new shows.
Moreover, Google has offered Spotify upgrades by way of a new Wear OS complication. Available on the Pixel Watch first, there are also new tiles for controlling playback and playing frequently streamed podcasts. Spotify DJ now graces Android devices, albeit only in Canada, Ireland, the UK and the US for now. Please see Google's blog post for more details.
