New Garmin map features coming to Fenix 7 and Epix 2 smartwatches
Garmin has revealed two new map features, which are expected to arrive on the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 soon, according to the5krunner. The first feature is Split Screen, launched with the Approach S70 smartwatch. This version of the tool cuts the screen in half horizontally, showing hole stats on one side and a view of the approach to the green on the other.
The feature works with other maps and data fields and is already available for the new Fenix 7 Pro and Epix 2 Pro wearables. The second tool is the Perimeter Map Screen, which lets you add up to six data fields around the edge of the map screen. For example, you could display your heart rate, distance and elevation. Again, this feature is available on the Fenix 7 and Epix Pro watches and is expected to roll out to Fenix 7 and Epix 2 models shortly.
Another new set of tools which arrived with the Epix and Fenix 7 Pro are Weather Map Overlays, which allow you to view temperature, wind and cloud coverage on top of your map. The data is synced via your smartphone to ensure you have the latest information. It is unclear precisely when Garmin will release these new mapping features to the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 wearables; presumably, they will reach those signed up for the Garmin Beta Program first.
