Amazfit T-Rex 2 Ocean Blue coral-friendly special edition released to pre-order
Amazfit is now linked to the upcoming release of new smartwatches that might be its answer to the Huawei Watch GT Runner (and also comprise its new GPS Wear line into the bargain); however, in the meantime, it has produced a color option refresh for its second-gen 'adventure-class' wearable.
Not only is this T-Rex 2 finished in Ocean Blue for the first time, it is also backed to help save endangered coral reefs. Amazfit's owner Zepp Health has pledged US$10 from each unit of the Special Edition sold to fund the work of Coral Guardians, "a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and restore coral ecosystems" in the Indonesian Marine Protected Area of Hatamin.
The Ocean Blue Special Edition of the T-Rex 2 has a "reprocessed silicone" strap in a matching color, and has been upgraded to the same kind of sustainable unboxing experience of its newer Ultra counterpart, which involves a box with a plastic content of only 6%, which is "biodegradable" in any case.
Otherwise, it retains the specs of a standard T-Rex 2 - which can be found for as little as US$149 in refurbished condition on Amazon today. The Ocean Blue Special Edition and its eco-friendly bragging rights, on the other hand, can be pre-ordered directly from Amazfit from now for US$229.99/€229.90.
