Amazfit has finally introduced the T-Rex 2, a smartwatch that leaked several times before its release. As expected, the T-Rex 2 is a GPS-enabled smartwatch and one that Amazfit aims at those who want their smartwatch to withstand challenging conditions. Accordingly, the T-Rex 2 is MIL-STD 810G certified for use in temperatures between -40 °C and +70 °C, and is waterproof up to 10 ATM.
Additionally, Amazfit equips the T-Rex 2 with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 454 x 454 pixels and 1,000 nits. Also, Amazfit includes a 500 mAh battery that should provide up to 24 days of battery life or 26-58 hours with GPS enabled. Speaking of GPS, the T-Rex 2 offers dual-band and 5-satellite positioning, along with an altimeter and a compass. Meanwhile, the smartwatch has a BioTracker 3.0 PPG sensor and over 150 sports modes.
At launch, the T-Rex is only orderable in Ember Black, which retails for US$299.99. However, Astro Black & Gold and Wild Green colour options will 'be available soon', as will a Desert Khaki option in some markets. For reference, all colours weigh 66.5 g and measure 47.1 x 47.1 x 13.65 mm. Seemingly, Amazfit is already shipping the Ember Black edition; specific availability for other colour options is unknown at this stage.
