Amazfit has already updated its GTS 2 Mini with a New Version on Amazon.in; now, it has done the same with the main GTS 2. The smartwatch is already available on this platform, which might make it slightly confusing for some consumers.
However, more observers could find the point of this apparent refresh even more mystifying, as it mainly entails buying the watch just to get at a choice of 2 new strap colors: Petal Pink and Space Black (even though the existing model has an all-black option already).
On the other hand, this means the New Version retains the best attributes of the GTS 2 for the Indian market, its "bezel-less" 1.65-inch AMOLED display, SpO2 sensor, 90 sports modes and 3GB of storage for on-watch music included. As an Amazon Special, it also still comes with Alexa out of the box.
It also has the same 246mAh battery capacity, although Amazfit has re-evaluated its typical battery life and come up with a value of 6 days, as opposed to 7 from the GTS 2's initial launch.
Then again, the GTS 2 (New Version) does have a potentially critical distinctive quality: the price. While the original remains at INR 12,999 (~US$167) at the time of writing the re-boot is set at INR 11,999 (~$155) - or 10,999 (~$142) on its first day of release, June 5, 2022. Meanwhile, both variants' successor, the GTS 3, is down to INR 13,990 (~$180) today.
