Fossil Gen 7 and Skagen Falster Gen 7 appear on Bluetooth SIG ahead of probable June release
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) has published a listing for several unreleased Fossil Group smartwatches, underscoring rumours of new Fossil smartwatches being in the pipeline. For reference, Fossil last refreshed its flagship smartwatches in August 2021 with the Gen 6, which relied on the same Snapdragon Wear platform as the older TicWatch Pro 3. Subsequently, Skagen unveiled the Falster Gen 6, which shares plenty of features with the Fossil Gen 6.
According to the Bluetooth SIG listing, the Fossil Group still plans to release the DW14F1, DW14S1, DW15F1 and DW15S1, all referred to as smartwatches' with Bluetooth connectivity and [an] activity tracker'. Based on these model numbers, the DW14S1 and DW15S1 are Skagen smartwatches, with the DW14F1 and DW15F1 to be released under the Fossil brand. Based on the FCC's documentation, the four smartwatches will be all different sizes, starting with the DW15S1 at 40.2 mm.
Currently, it is unknown when Fossil will announce the Gen 7 series. However, an FCC document only prevents the Commission from publishing device pictures until June 20. Hence, the Fossil Gen 7 series could debut later this month. Presumably, the Skagen Falster Gen 7 will launch after the Fossil Gen 7 series does. Hopefully, the Fossil Group has sourced the rumoured Snapdragon Wear 5100 platform for its next smartwatches, rather than the ageing Wear 4100 and Wear 4100 Plus platforms.
