Huami's upcoming Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 smartwatches have diamond-like screen coatings that are as hard as sapphire
If you are planning on buying either an Amazfit GTR 2 or Amazfit GTS 2 from Huami and deliberately scratching the screen, then you better have some diamonds to hand (or moissanite at least). According to the manufacturer, both of the soon-to-be-released smartwatches have been treated with a diamond-like coating that equates to level 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
This means that the Huami Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2 have screens that are as hard as sapphire, or more simply put, wearers can feel secure in the fact that the display glass is 20 times harder than ordinary glass. On top of that added layer of durability is the steel casing that surrounds the vital components of the GTR 2 and GTS 2, which can handle a lot of friction according to the latest promo material.
Both smartwatches actually appear in a new poster from Huami, and they certainly deliver a sophisticated aesthetic. The Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 will be launched on September 22 with sales starting the day after. No prices, even for the domestic market of China, have yet been announced, but the current-generation models can be purchased from US$134.99 (GTS) and US$124.99 (GTR) on Amazon.
