Huami adds two key features to the Amazfit GTS, GTR and GTR Lite
Huami may have just announced two new Amazfit smartwatches, but that has not stopped the company from bringing a comprehensive software update for older models. Seemingly as of today, Huami has rolled out an update to the Amazfit GTS, GTR and GTR Lite, that introduces two big features to the three devices. The updates to look out for are 1.3.7.19 for the 47 mm Amazfit GTR, 1.2.06 for the 42 mm model, 1.0.2.06 for the GTR Lite and 0.1.1.19 for the GTS.
As the screen below demonstrates, Huami has added rapid eye movement (REM) sleep phase detection, which should provide more detailed analysis of sleep tracking. Huami has enabled this feature on many other Amazfit smartwatches, so it is good to see the company bring it to three additional models. You must have sleep detection enabled to use this feature, which can be found under Heart rate settings in the Zepp app.
The updates reputedly improve the GPS tracking of the three smartwatches, too. However, it should be said that Huami has issued several updates aimed at rectifying GPS issues, as some people who own Amazfit smartwatches can probably attest Amazfit will distribute the updates via its Zepp app. Currently, the company has started issuing the updates in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, but a wider rollout is expected to occur soon.
