The official product page for the Amazfit Bip U smartwatch from Huami has revealed that there will be a Pro variant joining the range at some point. The landing page itself has the headline “Amazfit Bip U Series”, which automatically implies that there is more to come for this smartwatch lineup. However, the Bip U Pro is specifically mentioned three times on the page and conveniently unveils some of its added features.
So along with the OxygenBeats app from Huami for blood-oxygen level measurement, Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI), SomnusCare sleep tracking app, over 60 sports modes, and a 1.43-inch color display, which all appear with the regular Bip U wearable, the Pro model will additionally get a built-in GPS for a start. While the Bip U can work with GPS as long as the smartphone it is connected to has a built-in GPS, it does not have one of its own. According to the specs, the Bip U Pro also gets a geomagnetic sensor (electronic compass) and a microphone.
Having a microphone available means the Amazfit Bip U Pro should offer its user the advantage of calling up a virtual assistant when required. It has been speculated that the Pro edition will also feature NFC, although this function might be region-specific if it is included. The Bip U is currently priced at ₹3,499 (US$48), which is a temporary reduction from the usual price tag of ₹5,999 (US$82). The Bip U Pro will obviously be more expensive, but hopefully not by too much.
