The ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090 GUNDAM is set to deliver chart-topping graphics performance at an eyewatering US$2500
ASUS just announced the ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090 GUNDAM, its top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 3090 variant. The imposing all-white, triple-fan card comes in at an eye-watering US$2500, US$1000 more than the recommended price for RTX 3090 models. Factoring in the hike to street prices due to the Ampere supply crisis, the ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090 GUNDAM is likely to become one of the most expensive consumer graphics cards in recent history.
What exactly does US$2500 get you? In this case, you get a 195 MHz overclock relative to the GeForce RTX 3090's stock spec, alongside a power limit that's been hiked to 480W. The triple-fan cooling solution and the high-binned GA102 chips that ASUS is likely using mean that temperatures will likely stay in control, leading to consistently high boost clocks across the board.
While this might sound impressive on paper, the ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090 GUNDAM doesn't appear to go far beyond ASUS' ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090, priced at a much more reasonable US$1799. The US$700 price differential is mostly down to the all-white GUNDAM design. It's impossible to recommend this card from a price/performance perspective. But if you're in the market for a top-performing, limited edition GUNDAM-themed piece of kit, ASUS has you covered.
