It appears there could be a 15-inch version of the Asus ZenBook 14 UM425IA laptop in the works, thanks to a hint dropped by an Asus representative on the OEM’s Twitter account. A comment of “will a 15 inch version come out this year” was offered in response to the company posting a promo video of the ZenBook 14 (UM425), and this was met with a reply of “Stay tuned!” accompanied by the winking face emoji.
So the likelihood of an Asus ZenBook 15 laptop with AMD’s recent Renoir chips appearing in the not too distant future seems quite strong based on this Twitter response. No further information was given, so it’s not known if it would be simply a larger variant of the current ZenBook 14 UM425IA offering the same Ryzen 5 4500U or Ryzen 7 4700U APU options, or if the OEM would risk going for a Ryzen 4000 chip that offers simultaneous multithreading (SMT) like the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.
Being a larger form factor, a potential Ryzen 4000-powered Asus ZenBook 15 could also offer greater connectivity options, such as an audio jack connection. The current ZenBook 14 UM425IA comes with 8 or 16 GB RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage provided on a PCIe NVMe SSD. Buyers can choose between a 250-nit anti-glare screen and a brighter 400-nit option for the thin and light laptop, which comes with an unusual glass-covered touchpad/NumberPad combination input device.
